53A Models Hull
For a long time now 53A models has been my local model shop. Founded in 1987 by John & Sue Turner, the shop deals mainly in new and used model railway items and accessories.
Any review of this I write will read very similarly to the one previously written for Caistor Loco. For in many ways, they are very similar. Both are lovely traditional ‘old style’ model shops. Both stock plenty, including my preference for N Gauge. And, perhaps most importantly service at both is excellent.
As well as stocking the latest releases (and older ones too) from all the major manufacturers, 53A models also has a broad range of scenic materials too. Add to this down the centre of the store you can view and purchase all the latest modelling magazines and books as well.
As you would expect from a store of this style, nothing is too much trouble. Models can be ordered in for you, and if needs be posted out. As a business, they also actively trade in second hand models too. Although any they do get in don’t tend to hang about long in what is a busy little shop.
So next time you are in Hull, and want a model shop to visit, you know where to go. Locally to the shop there is ample free parking. Normally I would park just round the corner in St Georges Road, a 2 minute walk away.
