Colletts Models

Having started writing about my preferred and recommended model shops, I featured two model stores in the north of England. Following my writings about Caistor Loco and KJB Models this one couldn’t be much further away. Colletts Models was established by Leigh Collett in 2010 when he opened his first model shop within Exmouth.

Like the other two I have already written about, Colletts is another small shop with great service. Always happy to chat and help on the end of the phone Leigh goes the extra mile for his customers whenever he can.

Communication with Leigh is also always straight forward and a pleasure. Best route for a prompt response is to ring the shop during opening hours. Never do you feel you have had anything other than an honest answer which is highly commendable.

Although it’s not a feature that I have used personally, the shop also offers pre payment plans to help you spread the cost of upcoming models. At time of writing they are the only ones to offer this service that I know of. With the cost of new releases having increased significantly in recent years I can certainly see the benefit of this too.

Recognised for good service

Like KJB, Colletts is not a name you will see splashed all over the modelling press. But everytime a poll occurs on Facebook or a modelling website there is always a good flow of customers ready to sing their praises. And like their commitment to service I firmly believes that speaks volumes. 

Perhaps, the nigest testament to Leigh’s service though comes from outside the modelling world. 2017 saw Colletts Models win the Exmouth Chamber of Commerce award for Customer Service. Prooff, if ever proof was needed that good news travels.
