West Coast Models
Continuing our trend of reviewing and highlighting cottage industry producers is West Coast Models. Run by Anthony Sutton, who is well know in some modelling circles for his detailing services he has provided for many years.
West Coast Models have now branched out into providing harder to find detailing components. And it is here I have used their services. As with every review on here, it is independent and honest. At no point do we get paid for any reviews we write.
West Coast, have both their own website selling kits, as well as a shop on ebay. Venturing into the online shop, there are detailing parts for a number of different classes of loco available. These kits use a variety of manufacturing techniques to provide the best solution for the part.
There are a choice of etched brass components, traditional white metal castings. Also, as you’d expect in this day and age a number of 3D printed plastic items two.
My shopping experience
Put simply it was faultless, as it was last time I ordered too.
I ordered four items last week, mainly detailing parts for class 47 locos. Ordering was quick and simple, and postage was prompt. The items came well packaged in a cardboard box to protect them from transit damage. Delivery was by Royal Mail with a tracking number provided within 48 hours of placing the order.
The items
As you would expect for N Gauge detailing parts, they are of course very small!
The Hi-Intensity headlights are a part that was once available from Gaugemaster but has been discontinued for some while. These are vital for bring older models into a newer era.
For something that is just a few mm in size it is perfectly shaped and proportioned. Volunteering at the Mid Norfolk Railway gives me the perfect opportunity to see such things up close and personal. And I’m very happy with the models received.
The same goes for the ETH jumpers and multiple working sockets. Each items looks like a well recreated scale replica of the real life item.

Well done West Coast Models – top items and service (again) from a very happy N Gauge modeller.
