A new season of exhibitions is nearly upon us
I’m conscious it’s been quite a while since I either did any modelling, or updated this blog. Rich, you really must do better in 2025, Or at least that’s what I keep telling myself. So, here goes.
I’m aware the exhibition season for some may start earlier. However for me, the first one of 2025 is going to be in Dereham. Organised by The Mid Norfolk Railway as a fundraising activity towards their preservation activities. The annual Dereham model railway exhibition is on 1st March. The show, as in previous years is being held in the splendid setting of the memorial hall.
The show also coincides with the first running day of the new season, and as I’m rostered for it. This means, I shall have to work out how to sneak across in between trains.
Trains run from 9am on the day as the first departure of the new season from Dereham to Wymondham. With the last departure of the day being the 4pm round trip from Dereham.
The exhibition itself is open from 10am – 4pm. Admission costs £6 for adults and £5 for concessions. Free parking is available all day at Dereham Station. The station is a 5 minute walk from the Dereham Memorial Hall where the event is being held. Food and drink will be available at both locations throughout the day.
A trip out
If you do fancy a trip out on the train, the Mid Norfolk railway is one of the top 10 longest preserved lines in the country, and also the longest in East Anglia. The journey to Wymondham Abbey station is just over 11 miles and will be operated by a heritage DMU on the day. At £10 return with two kids going free for every fare paying adult it’s a cracking value day out for the family.
More details will be released on traders and layouts at the show nearer the time. As soon as it is I shall come back to update this blog.
