RevolutioN Trains announce all steel ‘K-type’ Pullman carriages
Anyone who reads the annual polls on most wanted new releases be it in magazines or on the internet can be sure to have seen these mentioned in the N Gauge lists. Now people can have their wishes come true.
RevolutioN Trains have announced they they are to produce these in ready to run (RTR) format. The carriages announced today at The International N Gauge Show (TINGS) are sure to be a hit.
Built by Metropolitan Cammell in Birmingham, the K-type Pullmans were the first all steel construction Pullman carriages in the UK. And, a number of them remain in main line service today.

There are also a significant number in existence throughout the country on preserved lines too. The carriages remained in front line service with BR until the 1960s. At this time they were often seen running in mixed rakes with Mk1 Carriages available already from Graham Farish.
Coming Soon
RevolutioN have stated that they are expecting the order book for the K-type Pullmans to open late Q4 2021 – Q1 2022. Currently the models are at the final stages of research prior to starting CAD development
Once released they will be high specification models as we have come to expect from RevolutioN. The plan is for them to feature carriage lighting as well as working table lamps throughout.
“Metropolitan Cammell built 29 Pullman cars of 5 different body types: Kitchen 1sts and 3rds, Parlour 1sts and 3rds and Parlour Brake 3rds – we will offer all 5 body types in train packs to allow prototypical formations to be assembled.”
Another must have model for me I must say. Not necessarily era appropriate on main line running for me if i’m honest with myself. However, given the high numbers that exist in preservation as well as on charter trains something can be done to incorporate them I’m sure. Failing that it may well be a case of Rule 1 applies. A principle I fell sure a lot of modellers may opt to take. These models are guaranteed to be popular. And if past RevolutioN releases are anything to go by, items of beauty too.
